I was also disapointed when i found out that the DSTT card that i ordered turned out to be a fake (I opened up and checked the PCB and it matched the fake example on the NDSTT site). I’ve filed a ticket to DX about this (I’m sure they are already aware of this situation). On the bright side, this will be a good way to see how well DX’s customer support handles these things . I’ll try to keep you guys updated if anything comes up.

As i was whoring through the new release section on DX, I found that they’ve recently added the nintendo DSi at $253.00. Of course, this is NOT the english version since its imported from japan. I’m sure these won’t be in stock for long seeing how its the only genuine console DX is selling atm. As tempted as i am right now, i don’t think i’ll be getting it (mostly because i can’t read japanese..> >;) until they release it in states.

The free application, which allows iPhone owners to use the Google search engine with their voice, mistook the word “iPhone” variously for “sex,” “Einstein” and “kitchen sink,” said the Daily Telegraph.

Comments left by users on the application’s website seemed to confirm the problem. “Awesome job google. only problem is every time I say the word ‘fish’ it registers as ‘sex’,” wrote one, identified as Kevin.

A video demonstration of the Google Mobile App on the online giant’s website shows an American engineer successfully asking for pictures of the Golden Gate as well as cinema timetables and temperature conversions.

The website also includes a link to a video showing people with Irish, British and Chinese accents asking for relatively complicated searches, with apparent success.

But British iPhone owners had less luck when speaking the word “iPhone” into the application — a Scottish user was offered a porn website after it mistook his search for “sex,” the Telegraph reported.

A user from Surrey, south of London, had his request mistaken for “myspace” and “Einstein” was another option offered for “iPhone” spoken with a Kent accent, it said.

The only British accent which correctly understood the request was for a user from Yorkshire, northern England, although he was also offered “bonfire.”

A Welsh accent gave the suggestions “gorillas” and “kitchen sink.”

“I’ve got a traditional Kentish accent and the thing kept on spitting back ridiculous things,” said Roger Ellinson, 26, from Maidstone in Kent, southeastern England.

“I asked it to find my nearest pizza take away and it came back with something about volcanoes,” he added.

“I asked it to find my nearest pub and it gave me a link to some kind of weird dating website,” said Ellinson. “I’ll have to try to put on my best American accent to get it to work.”

On its website, Google points out that the new voice search system “is currently available only in U.S. English.”

One British user, Edward Parsons, says on the site’s comments board: “This is fantastic, except for the North American accent bias.

“It actually works pretty well, but I have to disguise my (North London) accent with a terrible folksy Texan tourist voice to get results. I can see this is going to be the source of much amusement and confusion.”

According to the organization, power saving features implemented by the big three–Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft–could save consumers some $1 billion a year, reducing greenhouse pollution by a rate equivalent to the yearly output of all the cars in San Jose, California.

Unlike the last order, this time it only took 3 days for them to go from waiting to supplier to shipping the package (yay). Hopefully if everything goes according to plan, i will recieve my package sometime next week and do a couple of reviews.

P.S.  I’ve ordered the replacement touch module because my touch screen doesn’t seem to respond anymore (most likely killed it while swapping the shell).

Got broken parts on your system and want to fix it rather than selling it off on ebay for a lame price? Want the best deals on NDS flashcarts or other gaming accessories? Are you really bored and want to just buy some weird and cheap random crap for the price of a whopper?

DealExtreme has everything ranging from office and computer supplies to hobby stuff. From bootleg iPhones/pods to genuine kingston cards, from stress relief balls to laser pointers, from bracelets to self defense weapons, from alarm and serveilance systems to lock picking tools… Ok i’ll just stop here after seeing how bad i am at contrasting.

I personaly like the fact that they charge free shipping on any orders from DX. However the downside to that woud be the long ship time (7-14 days shipping time due to the fact that the warehouse is located in Hong Kong) and the packaging would be an envelope-like parcel with air bubble sheets inside (which doesn’t seem reliable on delicate items) instead of box packaging. This doesn’t bother me much since i didn’t get any damaged or opened orders (yet).
There is also an option to upgrade to EMS express shipping with a minor fee (pending on order) or free if the order is qualified for a free EMS upgrade (usualy the pricey orders).

My first order was through my friends purchase who helped me purchased my first flashcart (EDGE DS), my replacement DS shell, and the Kingston micro SD (2GB). It arrived 3 weeks after the order was placed (a bit later than expected because the DX staffs were off on a vacation) and it turned out fine even after living inside the enveloped package for 2-3weeks.

To sum it up:

Pros
•Cheap a** sh** compared to other dealers
•Free shipping
•Wide selection of cool stuff that wouldn’t hurt to try out
•Option to upgrade to express mailing (charges small fee)
•Reasonable customer support (they don’t speak english fluently of course.. But hey, theres a forum if you need help with the itsy bitsy stuff)

Cons
•Some bootleg/defected stuff (just be careful and do a little research before purchasing)
•Items not in stock might delay your order (but they sometimes seperate the orders and work on the ones that haven’t arrived yet)
•Cheap packaging might result in broken deliveries (heard many cases of that, but you can always return it for a replacement)

I highly recommend this site for hard to find gadgets as well as DS accessories.
